Rohana Abdul Karim received her B.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering (Information Systems) from Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (now UTHM), Johor, Malaysia, in 2005, followed by an M.Sc. in Computer Science (Software Engineering) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2007. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2017. Dr. Rohana began her academic career as a lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) in 2007 and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology. She is a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and an Aptech Certified Computer Professional. She has also held leadership roles, including Head of Program for the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology (Power & Machine) with Honors from 2021 to 2022. During her tenure, she was pivotal in steering the program toward achieving accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).


Her research interests encompass cutting-edge areas such as computer vision and image processing, where she develops innovative algorithms for applications like early disease detection, object tracking, and behaviour recognition. She is actively engaged in developing IoT-based systems and explores the use of AI and machine learning to enhance real-world problem-solving capabilities.


Her work in engineering education also focuses on integrating active learning methodologies and digital tools, such as ClassPoint, to foster student engagement and improve teaching practices.
